The Caritas Challenge: Help Furnish Homes this Holiday Season
Four Richmond regional providers are taking part in a statewide challenge to rapidly re-house 160 homeless families from mid-October to mid-January. Already, dozens of formerly homeless families are settling into their new homes in preparation for the holidays.
As a result, the CARITAS Furniture Bank is experiencing an all time low in its inventory and desperately needs your help to furnish these homes before the holidays.
YOU can help by being an ambassador for families in need — spreading the word, organizing a drive, cleaning out your closet and donating the most needed items listed below (new or gently used):
Beds (mattresses and frames)
Kitchen tables and chairs
Pots and Pans
Towels (kitchen, bath, all sizes)
HOW TO DONATE:
We’ll Pick it Up!
You don’t have to carry it to the curb; we send professional staff to your home to remove unwanted items: mattresses, couches, dressers and other household items. The pickup fee varies (averaging $30-$40 in the metro area) based on the items donated and traveling distance. The exact amount will be provided when you book your pick-up appointment. Drop it Off!
Donations are accepted at the CARITAS Furniture Bank Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. We are located at 1125 East Commerce Rd, Richmond, VA 23224.
Self Serve Donation Sites:
You may drop donations off at one of four AAAA Self Storage units (Chesterfield, Midlothian, East End or Mechanicsville) or our permanent drop off at Christ Episcopal Church in the West End. Please call during business hours for locations, gate codes and combinations.
All donations are Tax-Deductible; a receipt will be given at time of donation.
